During the conference, Professor Bellia presented her paper: “Soundscape of Ritual Conflict in the Ancient World.” Her research explored how sonic environments and auditory experiences shaped the perception and management of conflict within ancient ritual spaces, further investigating how performative practices and acoustic structures were strategically employed to transform antagonistic clashes into controlled, regenerative ritual performances.
The event, promoted by the Fondazione Ignazio Buttitta, brought together scholars from various disciplines to examine how societies have historically elaborated complex strategies—often rooted in cosmogonic myths—to manage internal and external tensions through ritualised action.
