Antonella Bevilacqua completed an MSc in Architecture and Construction Engineering at the University of Parma, where she first developed an interest in acoustics and physics under the guidance of Prof. Angelo Farina. Alongside her architectural studies, she pursued extensive musical studies, earning diplomas in Oboe and Saxophone, followed by an MA in Music with a specialization in performance practice, solo and chamber saxophone repertoire at the Conservatoire “Arrigo Boito” in Parma. The combination of architecture and music naturally led Antonella to specialize in acoustics and spatial audio, continuing her research and professional development under the supervision of Prof. Farina. She later furthered her studies in environmental and architectural acoustics at the London South Bank University with Prof. Stephen Dance, where she is actively involved in research on acoustics of performing arts spaces and concert halls.
Her research interests focus particularly on the auralization of classical theatres, recreating immersive sonic environments through the reproduction of characteristic historical soundscapes. This passion also inspired her literary work, leading to the publication of the novel La lucerna caleidoscopica by Falco Editore. Throughout her international career, Antonella has worked and collaborated across Europe, the United States, and India, contributing to research projects in spatial audio and architectural acoustics. Antonella has authored more than 100 publications, chaired special sessions at international conferences, and served as chair and coordinator for conference proceedings.
Her most significant contributions include articles published in peer-reviewed international journals such as the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, Applied Sciences, Building Acoustics, Applied Acoustics, and the Journal of Cultural Heritage.
