Daniele Ercoli began his studies in the double bass at the Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio under the guidance of Mauro Battisti and Paolo Marzo.
In 1996, he performed with the Moroccan singer Nour Eddine Fatti, the violinist Jamal Ouassini, and the ney player Omar Farouk Tekbilek, whilst also attending various masterclasses on the ney and the frame drum. In 1997, he recorded an album dedicated to the singer Piero Ciampi in collaboration with the singer-songwriter Luca Faggella. In 2002, he recorded Tredici canti, which was awarded the prestigious Premio Tenco, as well as Hiva Oa, an album dedicated to the repertoire of Jacques Brel.
Since 2000, he has collaborated with the ensemble Ludi Scaenici, focusing on the historical reconstruction of ancient Roman music and its instruments.
With the Greek rebetiko orchestra Evi Evan, he has recorded two albums: Fuori luogo (2011) and Itinerario rebetico (2014). Since 2004, he has performed alongside the actor Giorgio Tirabassi in the theatrical production Coatto unico senza intervallo, as well as with the Quintetto—an ensemble dedicated to reinterpreting the historical repertoire of Roman songs—which led to the recording of the album Romantica.
Since 2007, performing with the trio ViolaContraKora, he has participated in several productions by Sista Bramini’s theatre company, O Thiasos. Furthermore, since 2017, he has collaborated with the director Loredana Scaramella on theatrical productions including Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew (La bisbetica domata) and Twelfth Night (La dodicesima notte). In 2018, he recorded the album Sacred Honey with the pianist Alessandra Celletti, featuring the compositions of George Ivanovich Gurdjieff.
