Elisa Sanzeri graduated in Communication Sciences from the University of Palermo in 2018 and obtained an MA in Semiotics from the University of Bologna in 2021. She is currently a PhD Candidate in Semiotics at the University of Palermo, where she is conducting research on domestic space in contemporary social discourse. Her research interests focus on thresholds, the relationships between everyday objects and human subjects, and the sensible dimension of spatiality. The outcomes of her research have been published in national and international academic journals, including E|C and Actes Sémiotiques, as well as in edited volumes and conference proceedings.
Alongside her academic work, she is engaged in science communication, cultural dissemination, and editorial activities. She has co-edited thematic issues of the journal E|C and collaborates in the organisation of conferences, summer schools, and research initiatives promoted by the Associazione Italiana di Studi Semiotici, the Circolo Semiologico Siciliano, and the Centro Internazionale di Scienze Semiotiche “Umberto Eco”. Between 2022 and 2024, she participated in European project design activities within the semiotics research group at the University of Palermo, contributing to the development of communication and dissemination strategies for Erasmus+ projects. Since 2024, she has also collaborated with Doppiozero, writing articles and reviews for a broader cultural audience.
Within the VOICING project, she is responsible for Science Communication and Dissemination activities. She oversees newsletter production, and coordinates community engagement activities, contributing to the dissemination of research outcomes and fostering dialogue between academia and society.
Her recent publications include Sul divano. Forme dello stare insieme (2024), Ruling the House: A Semiotic Perspective on Norms in Home Makeover TV (2025), Scenografie dell’isolamento.
