Leading expert in Applied and Room Acoustics, specialising in the assessment of environmental acoustic quality, musical acoustics, and the development of advanced methodologies for vibro-acoustic measurement in historical spaces.
Lamberto Tronchin has held the position of Associate Professor at the University of Bologna since 2011, with his research primarily focusing on applied acoustics and energy efficiency. His principal interests encompass room acoustics, where he has contributed to the development of novel methodologies for assessing acoustic quality, as well as the design of theatres and auditoria. In the field of musical acoustics, he has developed new vibro-acoustic parameters (IAR) and emulated the nonlinear sound behaviour of musical instruments utilising Volterra series. Furthermore, his research addresses energy efficiency through the investigation of innovative materials for building performance.
Prof. Tronchin is actively involved in prominent European (POR FESR) and National (PRIN) research projects. He is the author of over 270 scholarly publications and has been invited to deliver plenary lectures at numerous international congresses. Additionally, he is the inventor of an international patent held by the University of Bologna.
He currently serves as the Director of the Master's degree programme in Environmental Technologies for Physical Agents and has been recognised in Stanford University's prestigious World's Top 2% Scientists list for 2024. Prof. Tronchin is the General Chair of the Immersive and 3D Audio Conference (I3DA) and a past President of the Italian Section of the Audio Engineering Society (AES).
