Professor Angela Bellia has recently edited the new volume, “Architectural Structures for Music, Sonic Events, and Dance in the Ancient World,” published by Istituti Editoriali e Poligrafici Internazionali (Pisa-Roma, 2026) within the Telestes series.
This research explores the profound nexus between architectural structures and musical and choreutic performances in the ancient world. It challenges the conventional view of architecture as a passive container, arguing instead that built spaces functioned as active agents in the performative experience. By bridging archaeology, acoustic analysis, and performance studies, the volume adopts an interdisciplinary approach to rediscover the soundscapes and movement dynamics of the past.
